About
Trans-migrant association based in Lisbon.
TransParadise is a non-profit association based in Lisbon, Portugal, advocating for the rights of trans and migrant people through culture, communication, public policy and social intervention.
We work from the intersection between trans identity and migration status — a crossroad systematically made invisible by Portuguese and European public policy. Our action combines institutional advocacy (with governments, consulates, international bodies), cultural work (trans-artivism), and direct social intervention (partnerships with Casa do Brasil de Lisboa, Com Alma, NPISA, Helpline 144 and other networks).
Presidency
Freda Paranhos — president of TransParadise. Brazilian trans-migrant activist based in Lisbon. She represented the trans-migrant community in dialogues with the Brazilian government (Sílvio Almeida / Anielle Franco / Márcio Macêdo / Marcelo Freixo delegation, 2023), in panels on housing and homelessness (Queer Nest, 2023), and in the victory of name and gender recognition at Brazilian consulates abroad.
Values
Intersectionality
Gender, migration, race, class and ethnicity do not stand apart. We work in the crossing, not in the sum.
Culture
Artistic expression is our tool to bridge cultural divides and build understanding.
Inclusion
Every identity has room. Every voice is valued. Every existence is celebrated.
